Author’s Note: Before publishing this report, our purpose was to find a earbuds with noise reduction function and comfortable to wear, so we tested 58 wireless earbuds of different brands on the market. Based on our expert opinion and numerous consumer reviews, we’ve rounded up the 5 best wireless earbuds by performance, ranked at the end of this article.

With the popularity of smartphones and wireless networks

What is the magic of this wireless earbuds called “half a human organ” that makes people so obsessed?

Traditional headsets need to be connected to mobile phones or other audio devices via wires, while Bluetooth headsets can be connected wireless. This wireless design undoubtedly gives people more freedom and convenience, without worrying about long-term entanglement, and without worrying about the sound quality of the line deteriorating due to external interference.

In our test, we are more concerned about the test situation of a noise reduction function (ANC).

In fact, the technical principle of the noise reduction function of wireless earbuds is not to directly disappear the noise like magic, but to use the concept of “offset” to record the external noise into the Bluetooth earphones and generate sound waves opposite to the noise, so as to eliminate the external noise.

Reasons For A Earbuds With ANC

The biggest advantage of noise reduction is that if you turn on noise reduction in a noisy environment, you don’t need to turn on the music very loudly, and you can easily enjoy music even in noisy music.

Active noise cancellation focuses on eliminating low-frequency noise and complements passive noise cancellation. The control effect of low-frequency noise is remarkable, which can effectively isolate low-frequency noise and at the same time reduce the impact of noise on people’s health.

Adaptive ANC function, in fact it relies on the relevant ANC chip. It works with the concept of adapting to the environment, through algorithms to compensate for pickup defects, with better sound quality, longer battery life and anti-leakage functions

In recent years, many earbuds can not only play music, but also have other functions, such as built-in microphones for phone calls, support for voice control, etc, expanding the user’s usage scenarios.

But we have also found many problems. In order to reduce costs, many merchants may use batteries with smaller capacity and shorter battery life, resulting in poor experience.

Due to the use of low-quality Bluetooth chips or unreasonable design, it may cause problems such as frequent disconnections or audio freezes.

Some low-quality Bluetooth speakers may have risks such as battery overheating and explosion due to poor safety performance, which poses hidden dangers to users’ personal safety.

I don’t need to say that everyone knows that if you wear inappropriate earbuds for a long time, it will cause mechanical pressure on the opening of the ear canal, and even damage the ear canal. so the comfort of wear is also important.

In general, it is not easy to choose a good bluetooth earbuds in this mixed market.

You Should Look For

I have already mentioned the benefits of the ANC function above, and the ENC function here can effectively suppress 90% of the reverse environmental noise, thereby reducing the environmental noise by up to 35dB, allowing gamers to communicate more freely, so it is suitable for users with more advanced needs for headphones.

Especially outdoors, because high or low temperatures will consume battery life and battery life. Generally speaking, the louder the volume, the faster the battery consumption. Different types of music or audio files require different power requirements.

Based on these factors, if want to use all day.The combined battery life of the charging box and earphones must be at least 24 hours to qualify.

Good smart earbuds need to have excellent audio performance, including high fidelity, clarity and richness, to provide a better listening experience.

Wireless earbuds should be compatible with various devices, including smartphones, computers, tablets, etc., to facilitate various operations for users.

Smart earbuds should have a voice recognition function, and be able to adjust the volume, change music tracks, answer calls and other operations through voice control, which is convenient for users to use.

You Should Avoid

The difference between different versions of Bluetooth headsets is mainly in three aspects: transmission rate, energy consumption, and transmission distance. Simply put, the higher the Bluetooth version, the better the user experience. For example, Bluetooth 4.2 and Bluetooth 5.0 are more common in the market at present. Compared with Bluetooth 4.2, Bluetooth 5.0 can bring twice the data transmission speed, increase the transmission distance by 4 times, and reduce the loss of transmission efficiency. That is, more information can be passed to other compatible devices without the need to establish an actual connection.

Generally, we recommend the use of earbuds with waterproof performance above IPX6 level. This standard usually adopts a strong water spray test, that is, the sample can withstand the water spray with a water flow rate of 100L/min for 3 minutes. It is qualified, and the IP protection is the first A number indicates the level of dustproof and foreign object intrusion prevention of electronic products. The higher the number level, the stronger the ability of dustproof and waterproof.

We’re not looking for an expensive item, and of course if you’re after a really cheap option, then this article isn’t for you either. Appropriate price, excellent pitch earbuds is our goal in this article

In our practical test, we asked randomly selected testers about their user experience. The earbuds proved to be a clear favorite with their luxurious looks and useful noise cancellation features. The audio quality is better than other devices, with good ambient sound and long battery life.

Features: We found that it uses hybrid noise reduction technology with a maximum noise reduction depth of 40dB. It has 6 microphone call + ENC ambient noise reduction technology + 45km/h. Strong anti-wind noise can not only accurately capture human voices and reduce noise, but also clear calls in strong winds.

At the same time, it is accompanied by a transparent mode that can pay attention to the surroundings without taking off the headphones. The built-in 12mm driver unit provides an excellent music experience.

Comfortable to wear: Wearing depends on the cavity design, weight, stability, etc. of the earbuds. The structure of this earbud is miniaturized, perhaps to ensure that it can be worn without any stress. It has been found that its volume is 30% smaller than that of normal earphones, eliminates ear swelling and discomfort caused by wearing, and not easy to fall off.

Material: This earphone is made of skin-friendly antibacterial coating, which is comfortable and safe for long-term wearing.

Battery: Extra points were awarded for the particularly powerful battery. Even with frequent use, the test showed a particularly long runtime. The battery not only has a particularly high storage capacity, but was also surprisingly quick to charge. On average, our testers needed less than 30 minutes for a full charge. The strong battery life corresponds to the description on the advertising page.

Service promise: The manufacturer is obviously very confident in his product. That's why he advertises openly with his money-back guarantee. And throughout the purchase period, customer service kept in touch with me and tried to answer all my questions, thanks Justin. Of course we checked and returned a used Auralu after 15 days. The total price was refunded without any problems three days after receiving the goods.

Defect: Sometimes they sell too fast and there may be a sell-out situation.

As a review blogger, I'm going to say frankly that the Apple AirPods Pro have some disappointing shortcomings. First, they are expensive. Compared with other wireless earphone brands, the price of AirPods Pro is much higher, which may be a problem that cannot be ignored for some consumers.

Second, while the AirPods Pro's active noise cancellation works well in most situations, it can have some issues in certain environments. For example, under strong wind or other extreme noise conditions, the noise reduction effect may be affected to some extent, resulting in users not being able to fully enjoy the quiet music experience.

In addition, the battery life of the AirPods Pro is not optimal. While they are capable of delivering up to 4.5 hours of continuous playtime, that figure isn't too high compared to other competitors. For users who use the headset frequently, it may need to be charged frequently, which will cause some inconvenience.

Finally, the design of the AirPods Pro, while stylish, might not be the right fit for some. Each headset comes with silicone ear tips, but not everyone's ear shape fits them perfectly. This may cause discomfort when wearing or the earbuds are easy to loosen, affecting sound quality and noise canceling effect.
Although the Apple AirPods Pro perform well in many ways, the disadvantages of high price, limited noise reduction in extreme environments, poor battery life, and wearability that may not be suitable for everyone are still worthy of user consideration.

I've been using the Fit Pro lately and have found that the physical side buttons on the Fit Pro work really well while wearing the hat. If you plan to use the earbuds under a hat or hood, the Fit Pro will give you the advantage of still having full and easy play/pause operation with the side buttons while outside the hat.

ANC and Transparency modes are noticeably worse. Wind noise with ANC (Almost Enhanced) is extreme. Transparency mode doesn't offer the natural ambient sound of AirPods. The sound quality sounds cheaper due to the materials of construction. I haven't read the reviews where other people have noticed this, so maybe it's just me. The only way I can think of it is that the Beats are made of softer plastic while the AirPods are a harder material, which affects the sound quality with ANC and transparency.

The wingtips are too stiff and cause pain and discomfort after 10 minutes of use. I tried every earbud and it was ok. This problem is not alleviated from other earbuds, they are too uncomfortable. If you have large ears then this is not a problem either. Also they randomly stop playing, like disconnecting from bluetooth, but don't actually disconnect, like clicking the button short circuit causes it to repeatedly pause? I'm not sure if it's that one or a design flaw affecting all of them, but it's driving me nuts. One more weird thing, the audio would stop for no reason. Happened a few times. My iPhone will show that the audio is still playing, but there is no sound. I can pause and restart and the sound will come back. Don't know what that is.

Overall, I feel like the tech is going in the right direction, but needs to spend more time on fit and comfort before addressing the odd suspension issue.

When the outdoor wind is strong and when riding, if the noise reduction mode is turned on, the earphones will be disturbed by the wind noise. The anti-wind noise mode of MTW3 needs to be switched manually in the App, and cannot be switched by touch, which is a bit regrettable for those who often ride.

The app is bad, let's say you have 2 different phones and want to install the app on both so you can access the menu to change EQ settings, or turn ANC or transparency on or off, but you can't. The app can be installed on 2 phones, but the device will only show up on 1 phone. To switch devices you can only do this through the app, you need to open the app, select the device, then select connect, then select the device you want to connect to. This becomes a major annoyance when it takes 30+ seconds to open each submenu. The battery percentage is displayed on the phone; however, there is no way to tell how much battery is left in the case other than by looking at the LED light on the case.

Note that it requires you to sign up for an account with True, and there doesn't appear to be an option to save these preferences in local storage. I imagine it's their way of having a test bed to perfect their audio profiles, but it feels like True is falling for the cloud trend of wanting to keep your information, which in this case I don't feel is necessary. Don't get me wrong, I would use the feature, but I'd prefer that the manufacturer wouldn't force me to store my data with them to use a feature of a device I've already paid for.

All in all, the build is solid, the sound is clear, and the noise cancellation is good; these are great if you want to enjoy music with a well-balanced sound with crisp highs, clear mids, and clean, solid bass. However, the user experience is average.

Touch controls are great, but adjusting the in-ear fit during a call will almost always end the call if the entire surface area of the headset is part of the touch controls. If a call drops because the touch controls are too sensitive, the device is useless.

You need the app to connect to them to change any settings. When you put the earbuds away, the earbuds do not automatically connect to the last connected source, and you cannot select a different (paired) source using the touch-sensitive controls on the earbuds.I don't like having to rely on using an app or keeping the earbuds in the box to switch sources.

Bose has done a good job with noise cancellation and sound quality. However, they apparently have little knowledge of application development and Bluetooth management. Requiring a mobile app to access the headset is poor design. Sadly, the good traditions of the audio experience are all but rendered useless by poor software performance. Overall, while the sound quality of the earbuds is good, I'm rather disappointed with the overall user experience.

After all the tests, Auralu earbuds are the best true wireless earbuds. Whether it is objective data (sound quality score prediction based on frequency response curve) or my personal subjective evaluation, this earbud has a very good performance.

As an acoustic engineer who has purchased and tried over 200 earbuds, I think Auralu is an unmistakable choice.
